Spam spam spam…
The latest spam technique appears to be to put news headlines in the subject lines of emails. If I was a spam foreman of some sort, I’d call the idea long overdue, but as someone who regularly gets news items forwarded to him, it sucks. Fortunately, the from addresses of all of these messages seem to be “[stupid name] - News Service,” so I don’t have too much trouble identifying the bogus mails, but I imagine I’ll still delete one or two real mails by accident.
I’ve noticed that my Thunderbird installation at work does a much better job at identifying spam than my home copy. I tried resetting the junk mail training to see if it will help, but exhaustive investigation has revealed another strategy - it turns out I’m still running 1.5 at home versus 2.0 at work. Yep, that’d explain a few things…
